Section Leader - Renee Hockley-Byam
Renee is married to Ed, who is a great support in all the work she does for NEEBG. They live at Bradwell near Braintree, with Maisie the Border Collie.
Renee grew up with a love of wildlife, as a child spending many hours birdwatching with her father. Her interest in badgers started in the seventies when the government of the time started gassing badgers in a misguided and inhumane attempt to control bTB in cattle
Aside from badgers, tending a large riverside garden takes up a huge amount of time and the visiting wildlife is a constant delight.
Now Renee has retired from her work on gardening and nature programmes at BBC Essex she, along with Ed and Maisie, enjoy travelling in their motorhome all around Britain walking and wildlife watching.
As well as being Braintree Section Leader Renee has been Chairman of the NEEBG since 2001.
