About us

• The North East Essex badger group is one of 80 such groups throughout the United Kingdom.

• We are a member of the Badger Trust (formerly the National Federation of Badger Groups.

• We are a well established badger group, having been in existence for over 15 years.

• The group is split into four sections, which all hold their own monthly meetings.

• We are a badger protection group, and it is our aim to promote the protection of wildlife, and in particular, badgers in North East Essex. We also educate the public in all aspects of the study of badgers, their habitat and conservation.

• We have a 'badger hotline' which is manned 24 hours a day by volunteers to deal with all matters relating to badgers in our area.

There is always plenty to get involved in, and we cannot achieve any of it without willing and enthusiastic members - new and old!

We are always eager to recruit new members who are willing to be active in our work. This doesn't mean you have to be out every day and night, attend every function or put yourself at risk. One of the most important tasks of our group is regular monitoring of badger setts - a pleasant job which can easily be achieved whilst out with the children or walking the dog!
